The announcements tool is in every course by default, and every learner is automatically subscribed. This is a great way to ensure your learners get timely information.
If you decide to not use announcements follow these steps to remove announcements from your course:

- Change the # of visible announcements to 0 in the course settings
- Delete the announcements board from the course
